Our Uziza Seed Powder(Piper Guineense) is made from 100% premium quality Uziza seeds sourced from small holder farmers in Eastern Nigeria.

It is known as ‘Iyere’ by Yorubas and ‘Etinkene’ by the Efik/Ibibio tribe. 

Beyond a cooking spice, Uziza is rich in antifungal, antibacterial, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory properties. 

Our Uziza seed powder is 100% natural, additive and preservative free, and toasted to release the flavours before grinding.

How to Use: 

Uziza seeds powder is ideal for Seasoning local African soups and dishes, all kinds of meat and adding a hint of peppery flavour to any meal. Start with ½  teaspoon and work your way up. A little goes a long way. 

It can also be brewed as tea and used as a natural flu remedy. 

Storage: Keep airtight and store in a cool, dry and dark place, away from heat and light. Avoid shaking dry spices directly into food to prevent steam from getting in and introducing moisture which may affect the shelf life. Also ensure that measuring spoons are completely dry before dipping into spices. Our spices are preservative free so it is important to store them properly.
